Fry production, induced breeding practices and cost-profit analysis of the hatcheries of Rajshahi district in Bangladesh

Abstract: .04 kg were recorded in the surveyed hatcheries. Two types of hormone injections PG (pituitary gland) and HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) were used for induced breeding. The rate of 1 st dose of injection of PG varied from 1 to 2 mg/kg and HCG from 100-150 IU/kg and the rate of 2 nd dose of injection of PG varied between 5 and 8 mg/kg. The incubation period and hatching rate in different fish species varied from 10 to 72 hours and 55% to 80%, respectively. The average total cost, gross return and net profit… Show more

“…In case of rui, catla, grass carp and common carp, 0.5 mg/kg, and silver carp, bighead carp, 0.75 mg/kg body weight of PG for first dose in female and 1-2 mg PG/kg body weight in male fishes were injected. Akter et al [14] and Akter et al [15] adopted more or less the similar practices for induced breeding in various fishes. For the 1st and 2nd dose, PG of 0.25 mg/kg and 4 to 4.5 mg/kg, respectively was used for sharpunti and bata.…”
