O artigo busca refletir sobre a seguinte questão: somos seres infocomunicacionais, diligentes enquanto sujeitos de nossos processos, ou resultados de construções sociais estabelecidas por mercados, a partir de ideologias que se consolidam na superestrutura da sociedade? Para tentar responder à pergunta, foi selecionado um material que contextualiza o papel das ciências, assim como da própria Ciência da Informação, nos períodos entre e pós-guerra, e que também aborda aspectos ligados à condição humana e à sua subjetividade, a partir das imbricações entre submissão vs. emancipação, comunicação, informação e alteridade. As considerações apontam que somos seres complexos, que não obedecem somente a uma lógica binária, mas inseridos e insurgentes em uma relação de ordem/desordem imposta pela própria complexidade. Portanto, seres infocomunicacionais ativos e cuja consciência supera a inteligência tecnológica, mas suscetíveis à subordinação, por vontade própria, ou não, à subjetividade/objetividade de um mercado que investe pesado em aparatos de comunicação, especialmente em redes neurais e inteligência artificial.

Introdução: Esse artigo analisa a produção científica em Comunicação, entre 2007 e 2017, em revistas indexadas no primeiro quartil (Q1) e no segundo quartil (Q2) da base de dados Web of Science, pertencentes a autores com afiliação em instituições brasileiras. Objetivos: Determinar a evolução dessa produção científica, conhecer a afiliação institucional dos coautores, ver as temáticas abordadas, o idioma de publicação e as redes internacionais de coautoria. Metodologia: Foram identificadas as revistas de comunicação no InCities (JCR) pertencentes aos dois primeiros quartis, em seguida foi realizada uma busca por título de periódico na WoS e posteriormente o tratamento e normalização dos dados obtidos. Resultados: Observa-se um crescimento na produção científica em Comunicação, na projeção internacional, e uma tradição em coautoria com redes internacionais. No período de 2014 a 2017, tenderam a publicar principalmente em inglês, frente às colaborações usuais que vinham mantendo com países de língua espanhola até 2014. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o sistema de avaliação da Capes, quadrienal, pode ter influenciado a produção científica em Comunicação no intervalo estudado.
Introdução: O Sci-Hub é um canal de acesso a textos científicos totalmente gratuito e sem necessidade de cadastro que recupera documentos através do título ou de identificadores persistentes, mesmo quando são textos protegidos pelas leis de direito autoral. O artigo apresenta o contexto de criação do Sci-Hub e seu funcionamento, informando sobre as barreiras à comunicação científica impostas pelo sistema editorial vigente. Objetivo: O estudo investigou a extensão do uso do Sci-Hub no Brasil entre estudantes de pós-graduação stricto sensu de diferentes áreas. Metodologia: A pesquisa envolveu um survey sobre as motivações para o uso do Sci-Hub, aplicado com o auxílio do Google Formulários. Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que cerca de 20% dos respondentes não conheciam o Sci-Hub. Entre os 779 pós-graduandos que conheciam a ferramenta, 88% indicaram usá-la regularmente, seja pelo custo zero ou pela praticidade (74%). Pouco mais de 14% assinalaram desobediência intelectual como motivação para usar o Sci-Hub. Os resultados indicaram também que o Sci-Hub tem se mantido como um atalho entre o pesquisador e o conteúdo científico indispensável para a realização de sua pesquisa e para a evolução da ciência. Conclusões: Conclui-se que a criação do Sci-Hub e sua intensa utilização no Brasil e ao redor do mundo são um sintoma da reação dos cientistas ao esquema deteriorado de comunicação científica mantido pelas editoras internacionais e uma constatação da importância dos princípios da Ciência Aberta.
