Abstract

The front cover picture shows in the background the biggest fumarole (la Boca Grande) in the Solfatara volcano crater, the home of the rare earth element–dependent bacterium Methylacidiphilum fumariolicum SolV. In front, the structure of the europium methanol dehydrogenase that was isolated from SolV and subsequently crystallized and characterized in our study is shown.
