From Visual Optics to Wavefront Sensors: Understanding the Role of Phase in Vision and Sensing of Aberrations

Abstract: Oblique light at the retina is attenuated in the visual response due to the directionality of photoreceptors. Similar principles can be used when sensing aberrations. Here, we review our efforts from photoreceptors to wavefront sensing.
