From Semanticobjects to Semantic Software Engineering

Abstract: One of the most important pieces of a database management system is its query language and the underlying algebra. This paper describes the query language of SemanticObjects, a development framework for object relational applications, and its associated object relational algebra. The paper also describes a semantic software engineering methodology that streamlines the development of object relational applications based on SemanticObjects.

“…The first is that the semantic cloud file system has a metadata cluster, that is to say, we have several metadata nodes, however the HDFS has only one metadata node. The second is that the semantic cloud file system has more semantics (Phillip & Kitazawa, 2007;Deng & Phillip, 2006) than the HDFS. Figure 4 shows the architecture of semantic cloud file system.…”

“…An ontology language can help to establish formalized definitions in the domain model, as well as addressing common issues in the requirements management process, including communication, traceability, completeness, consistency, document creation and managing change [26]. SemanticObjects [27] provides a framework to transform informal requirements specifications in natural language to formal specifications. In this framework, requirements specifications in natural language are first categorized, and then translated into different specification languages.…”

“…OWL has proven to be a very powerful tool of this type, enabling semantic reasoning in web applications. OWL currently is the main technology for implementing semantic web applications, therefore the capabilities of semantic software engineering (Sheu & Kitazawa 2007) are required to handle semantic reasoning design problems.…”
