Abstract:'Justice' is a word scattered through missionary writings. Throughout the nineteenth century, missionaries connected themselves with likeminded communities of opinion with labels such as 'friends of justice and humanity' , the protectors of 'kindness and justice' , or 'friends of justice, humanity and religion'.
