Covid-19 pandemic was an event which undeniably changed the paradigm of language learning. Online language learning has emerged as a significant catalyst, shedding light on distinctive attitudes, motivations, and beliefs among learners. The aim of the present study was to explore how learners articulated their attitudes, motivations, and beliefs in this context. To achieve these objectives, two hundred thirteen respondents participated in the study, completing modified versions of the AMTB (Attitude/Motivation Test Battery) and BALLI (Beliefs about Language Learning Inventory) questionnaires. In addition, eight online language learners were engaged in one-on-one interviews. Quantitative data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, while qualitative data were transcribed and examined using thematic analysis techniques as proposed by Auerbach & Silverstein (2003). Drawing upon the Complex Dynamic Theory by Larsen-Freeman (2017), the study's findings revealed that foreign language learning during the Covid-19 pandemic constitutes a complex dynamic construct that is profoundly influenced by learners' attitudes, motivations, and beliefs. These findings align with prior research, suggesting that learners generally have positive attitudes toward language learning and the target language community, and they exhibit a high level of motivation in their pursuit of online language acquisition.

This quantitative study investigates teachers’ perceptions of self-efficacy during the COVID-19 pandemic and explores the correlation between these perceptions and the preservice training they received. The research addresses the cognitive connection between teachers’ current self-efficacy, particularly their satisfaction with and appreciation of preservice lecturers. The connection between self-efficacy and “cognitive connection” lies in the intricate interplay of cognitive processes, observational learning, and the formation of beliefs and perceptions. The way individuals cognitively process information, make connections between experiences, and interpret feedback significantly influences their self-efficacy beliefs and behaviors. Utilizing a retrospective lens, the study reveals a significant correlation between teachers’ evaluation of their preservice training, especially their appreciation of lecturers, and their present self-efficacy. The findings highlight that teachers, amidst the challenges of the pandemic, evaluated their self-efficacy at a remarkably high level. This underscores their resilience during a period of unprecedented uncertainty demanding substantial personal and professional adaptability. The nuanced interplay observed suggests that teachers’ sense of self-efficacy serves as a predictive variable of their mental and professional resilience when confronting uncertainty and navigating rapid and profound changes, as exemplified by the exigencies of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current quantitative research examine how the leadership of a teacher training college in an Israeli Higher Education Institiostion (HEI) have dealt with the Covid19 crisis in an agile manner. This Perspectives presents a case study of agile leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic from the viewpoint of the college lecturers'. The Covid-19 outbreak was a 'Black swan' events for educational institutions in Israel. Following the unprecedented transition to distance learning. The pandemic forced higher education institutions to adopt agile leadership behaviors. Previous research has given scant attention to the relationship between running an academic institution and application of an agile leadership during a crisis. The Research Goals were:1. To analyze key processes undertaken by the leadership of the College following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure the HEI continued functioning during the crisis.2. To examine the evaluation (degree of approval) of the lecturers regarding the steps taken by the colleges leadership.As seen from the findings: The lecturers were persistent in the remote teaching process. Their contact with the students was positive. They perceived the college's leadership as maintaining teaching processes in a highly positive way. They were aware of the ongoing training processes. They felt comfortable contacting those in official roles. The conclusions suggest that ensuring the continued functioning of an organization during a crisis requires agile leadership with skills and competencies multifaceted and direct channels of communication. If we want to sum it up in one word, it can be expressed as Agilication = agility + education + action in higher education.
