In lifting systems used for the vertical transport of bulk materials and individual items or persons, so-called frictional force transmission between a steel cable and pulley is used. Due to the sufficient contact pressure between the pulley groove and the surface of the steel cable, the steel cable moves as a result of fibre friction. In general, it is possible to define fibre (also called belt) friction as the resistance that is imposed on a flexible steel cable sliding over the rounded surface of a pulley. The frictional transmission of the tractive force is considered safe if there is no slippage of the cable in the pulley groove. In the event of insufficient cable pressure against the pulley groove or insufficient friction, the transport process fails, and the lifting device is unable to perform its function. The purpose of the article and of the created measuring devices is to obtain by experimental measurements the most accurate true value possible of the coefficient of friction acting on the contact surface of the cable with the pulley groove. The values of the friction coefficients obtained by indirect measurements on laboratory equipment when the tractive force is transferred by friction differ in many cases and do not coincide with the values calculated using theoretical relationships. The aim of the paper is to present a method of measurement and to identify the magnitude of the forces acting on both sides of a cable belted in the V-groove of a cable drum. From the results obtained from the experimental measurements, to express the value of the random variable is based on the knowledge of the known values obtained from the measurements for their use in a failure analysis. This paper presents results that can be applied in the field of online monitoring of this type of lifting equipment for failure analysis, prediction and evaluation of their operational indicators.

The wear characteristics and related mechanisms of the Longwall Shearer Haulage System were investigated. Wear is one of the main reasons for failures and downtimes. This knowledge can help solve engineering problems. The research was carried out at a laboratory station and a test stand. The publication presents the results of tribological tests carried out in laboratory conditions. The aim research was to select the alloy intended for casting the toothed segments of the haulage system. The track wheel was made by the forging method using steel 20H2N4A. Haulage System was tested on the ground using a longwall shearer. Selected toothed segments were subjected to tests on this stand. The cooperation of the track wheel and toothed segments in the tootbar were analyzed by a 3D scanner. Debris chemical composition was also appointed, as well as mass loss of toothed segments. The developed solution toothed segment an increase in the service life of the track wheel in real conditions. The results of the research also contribute to reducing the operating costs of the mining process.

The purpose of this work is to study the effect of oil pocket shape and density on friction in reciprocating sliding. The experiments were conducted in reciprocating motion under starved lubrication conditions. Tribological tests were performed using an Optimol SRV5 tribotester. The frictional pair consisted of two discs of 42CrMo4 steel. One disc was laser textured. The oil pockets had circular and sandglass shapes. Disc samples of various texture shapes were characterized by the same pit-area ratios. The operating parameters were the same for all friction pairs. In most cases, surface texturing led to reductions in friction force value and scatter. For both dimple shapes, the best tribological properties were achieved for oil pocket density of 9%. When discs with circular dimples were tested, the highest resistance to motion was received for the highest pit-area ratio of 9%. On the contrary, the worst tribological performance of discs with sandglass-shaped oil pockets of sandglass shape were obtained for the largest oil pocket density of 22%.
