INTRODUCTIONPlacenta praevia is characterized by the abnormal placenta overlying the endocervical os, and it is known as one of the most feared adverse maternal and fetalneonatal complications in obstetrics.1 Women with placenta praevia are at an increased risk of second trimester vaginal bleeding.2 Placenta praevia is a source of drastic pregnancy, fetal and neonatal complications, e.g. peripartum hysterectomy, blood transfusion, postpartum hemorrhage, and placenta accreta for the mother, prematurity and intrauterine growth restriction for the fetus and increase in neonatal mortality rates in singleton pregnancies. 3Pathophysiology of placenta praevia is uncertain.Moreover, there appears to be an association between endometrial damage and uterine scarring and subsequent placenta praevia. We have conducted this study to find out the incidence of placenta praevia in Najran University Hospital. 4 METHODSThis study is a cross-sectional descriptive, one-year retrospective and one-year prospective study, carried out from April 2014 to April 2016. All pregnant women attended the antenatal care clinic in Najran University Hospital during the study period, were included. The data was collected in a designed questionnaire after informed consent from all patients in the prospective period.The patient's records in the retrospective period were the source of data. There was variable incidence in the literature in different parts of the world and within the same country regions. We carried out this study to find the impact in our area and the possible risk factors for this serious obstetric problem. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional descriptive, one-year retrospective one-year prospective study, carried out from April 2014 to April 2016. All pregnant women attended the antenatal care clinic in Najran University Hospital during the study period, were included. Results: The incidence of placenta praevia was found to be 2.7%. AMONG the study group, the most affected age group was between 20-29 years. Previous placenta praevia and previous caesarean section were the significant risk factors P=0.00 and 0,017 repectively. Conclusions:The incidence of placenta praevia in Najran KSA in this study was high, compared to other regions in Saudi Arabia and the majority of the international figures. Caesarean section and previous placenta praevia were the significant risk factors for placenta praevia in this study.

Objectives: To determine frequency of low lying placenta (placenta previa) in previous two cesarean sections. Study Design: Descriptive, Cross-sectional study. Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, KRL Hospital, Islamabad. Period: October 2020 to February 2021. Material & Methods: Total 157 pregnant population of gestational age >28wks with history of two cesarean sections of age group 18 to 40 years had been selected. Results: The general public of patients 56.05% had been among 18 to 30 years of age, mean gestational age located in the study was 31.50weeks. The frequency of low lying placenta (placenta previa) in the previous two cesarean sections is pretty excessive 38 (24.20%) patients. Conclusion: Frequency of low lying placenta (placenta previa) in previous cesarean sections is quite high.

Objectives: To determine the frequency of placenta previa in women with previous caesarean section presenting at Obstetrics and Gynecology department. Study Design: Descriptive (cross-sectional) study Setting and Duration: The study was carried out in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Abbottabad Medical Complex, Abbottabad and Mufti Mehmood Teaching Hospital, D. I. Khan during from December 2020 to May 2021. Methodology: The study population included those who have had at least one or more caesarean section, whether emergency or elective and irrespective of the cause of previous caesarean section with age group of 20 to 45 years of age. Patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled in the study after taking the informed consent. The aims and objectives of the study were explained to the patients being enrolled and their relatives and assured about confidentiality of information. Women included in the study underwent complete history, physical and gynecological examination. Results: A Total of 147 patients were included in the study sample with placenta previa. Mean age of the patients was 28.69±6.086, ranging from 20 to 45 years. Mean value of the parity was 3.18±1.141 ranging from 2 to 7 in the descriptive analysis, and the mean of gestational age (weeks) was 39.029±1.5618 ranging from 36.4 to 41.0 weeks. Out of 147 patients, Placenta previa diagnosed by ultrasound was found in 26(17.7%) patients. Conclusion: The study concludes that the frequency of PP in this setting is in keeping with globally cited frequencies. Other findings such as causes of PP and maternal morbidity data also agree with most national and international studies on this topic. Key Words: Placenta previa, Previous Caesarean Section
