Background: Measles is a highly contagious viral infection, highly prevalent in children, clinically associated with complications of nervous, respiratory and digestive systems, with significant morbidity and mortality rate in the developing countries. Objectives: The study was aimed to determine the frequency of measles-related complications in hospitalized children. Methods: The study was conducted in tertiary care hospital of District Dera Ismail Khan, from February 2022 to November 2022, including 212 children affected with measles. Results: Most of the affected children (p<0.05) were infants of age group less than 2 years (45.28%), and males (63.67%) were at higher risk (p<0.05) as compared to the females (36.32%). Significantly higher proportion (p<0.05) of rural kids were affected with measles (58.96%) than urban. Most of the affected children (p<0.05) were not immunized (93.86%; 199/212), and the disease was significantly associated (p<0.05) with the nutritional, socioeconomic, immunization status of the patients. Different complications like pneumonia (31.13%), gastroenteritis (19.33%), conjunctivitis (17.45%), otitis media (7.07%) and encephalitis (2.35%), while 22.64% (42/212) were also observed and six of the 212 patients died of the infection. Conclusion: A huge proportion of patients contracted the disease due to the absence of vaccination measures and the disease was associated fatal secondary complications. Therefore, the government must encourage immunization against this extremely contagious but preventable infection in the children. Acute respiratory infections are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide. Dietary and nutritional interventions, including minerals and vitamin supplementation, have been explored as potential treatments for these infections. However, the evidence on their efficacy is limited and inconclusive. This systematic review and meta‐analysis aim to provide a comprehensive summary of the available evidence on the effectiveness of dietary and nutritional interventions for treating acute respiratory tract infections in children. A systematic review was conducted according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines in April 2022 and updated in April 2023. Clinical trials focusing on dietary or nutritional interventions, including supplementations, in children with acute respiratory tract infections were included. The selection of interventions and outcomes was based on biological plausibility. Data were extracted using a standardized form, and the risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Meta‐analysis was performed using random‐effect models. A total of 50 studies were included in the review. Four trials were conducted in low, 32 in lower‐middle, 12 in upper‐middle, and only two in high‐income countries. The studies evaluated various dietary interventions, including zinc, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, and probiotics. The results of individual studies on the efficacy of these interventions were mixed, with some showing positive effects on clinical outcomes such as duration of symptoms, while others showed no significant impact. Meta‐analysis was conducted for zinc supplementation in children with pneumonia, and the pooled results suggested a potential limited benefit in terms of reduced hospital length of stay but not time to recovery. Meta‐analyses on vitamin D did not show any effect in children with pneumonia. This systematic review fills a critical gap in the literature by synthesizing the available evidence on the efficacy and safety of nutritional or dietary interventions for acute respiratory tract infections in children. The findings indicate no dietary or nutritional intervention can currently be recommended for the routine treatment of respiratory tract infections in children based on single supplement studies. The metanalysis suggests that zinc supplementation might have a beneficial effect on length of hospitalization in children with pneumonia. New studies are needed to establish more conclusive evidence for pediatric acute respiratory diseases especially for children living in a context of high‐income countries.

The investigation aimed at studying the impact of ten bio-chemical phosphorus fertilization and lithovit regimes on some qualitative traits of forage for 1 st and 3 rd cuts of six Egyptian clover varieties (Berseem, Trifolium alexandrinum L.) q.e. Helaly, Sakha 4, Gemmeiza 1, Giza 6, Serw 1, and local variety. The ten bio-chemical phosphorus fertilization and lithovit regimes were F 1 , control; F 2 , chemical phosphorus, 15.5 Kg P 2 O 5 /fad., F 3 , bio-phosphorus fertilizer "Phosphorien"; F 4 , 50% of F 2 + phosphorien; F 5 , 25% of F 2 + phosphorien; F 6 , F 2 + lithovit; F 7 , F 3 + lithovit; F 8 , F 4 + lithovit; F 9 , F 5 + lithovit; F 10 , sole lithovit. Results disclosed varietal differences in each of phosphorus content (P%), digestible energy (DE Kcal/g dry matter), protein yield (Kg/fad.), as well as carbohydrate and fiber yields (Kg/fad.) in both the 1 st and the 3 rd cuts. The ten bio-chemical phosphorus fertilization and lithovit regimes resulted in a significant impact on the above cited traits in both the 1 st and the 3 rd cuts.
