in January 2016. During his research, he gained new experiences about problems relating to high penetration levels of distributed generations and toward having 100% renewable energy in Germany, and as a result, he was awarded a fellowship program for an experienced researcher from the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation in 2017. Currently, he is at the Cologne University of Applied Science and is involved in research on the control and dynamic investigation of interconnected micro-grids. He has published more than 120 journals and conference papers, five books, and supervised more than ten research projects. Dr. Mahdi Mansouri was born in Yazd, Iran in 1975. He received both his B.S. degree in electronic engineering and MSc degree in electronic power from the Sharif University of Technology at Power Electronics-STATCOM and his Ph.D. degree in renewable energy systems from doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)based wind turbines from the Shiraz University of Technology. He has 20 years of experience in high-voltage transmission substations and lines as a technical engineer, a consultant, and an executive project manager. His research interests include flexible alternating current transmission system devices, power quality, and power system protection. He currently conducts power electronics, power-relay protection, and power-quality projects as a consultant and project manager.
