Abstract: Background: Pouchitis is the most common complication of proctocolectomy with ileo-pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) for ulcerative colitis (UC). Patients with pouchitis often present with many nonspecific symptoms, such as increased stool frequency, urgency, incontinence, nocturnal seepage, abdominal cramping, pelvic discomfort, and arthralgia . In some cases, the diagnosis of pouchitis is somewhat intricate because relatively mild symptoms are not necessarily associated with severe endoscopic or histological pouch inflammation.…”
