Shipment consolidation is one of main initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions and transportation cost. It reduces the number of shipments per customer and reduces transportation costs by using larger shipments. This paper investigates the temporal consolidation process in a central consolidation center in a make-to-order supply chain. This research was motivated by a case study of a design furniture company that has many suppliers and customers in large parts of Europe. Simulation was used to check the effect of a new and a special time-based temporal consolidation on the response time in outbound logistics. A soft delivery deadline that is less than the average lead time was used because of the long lead time. Arena Software was used to model the supply chain in order to find the best circumstances to use consolidation. Results showed that temporal consolidation could be more effective when order preparation time is with larger variability. The useful waiting is more when there is at least one order every four days. A formula that approximates the percent of reduced shipments was found. Furthermore, many shipments can be reduced without severely affecting the average response time. The value of the study is that it investigates consolidation problems in a high-mix low-volume environment that was overlooked by previous research.

Resumo-Neste artigo, pretende-se apresentar como a adoção de um aplicativo de agenda escolar favoreceu a gestão do conhecimento em uma escola de educação infantil. A metodologia aqui adotada, foi a de natureza aplicada com abordagem quantitativa por meio de estudo de caso único em uma escola particular de educação infantil na cidade de Maringá no estado do Paraná. Esta escola substituiu a agenda física por um aplicativo de agenda dada a dificuldade e comunicação com as famílias dos alunos e também do estabelecimento de um canal de fácil e rápido acesso entre os professores e a família a respeito das rotinas da escola. A adoção de um aplicativo de agenda favoreceu a criação, compartilhamento e a gestão do conhecimento, subsidiou o diretor com relação ao controle e comunicação entre os pais dos alunos e sua equipe de profissionais. The problem of consolidation of goods for the provider of logistic services, which is a third part that delivers goods from many suppliers to one business client in time horizon was analysed in this article. Every parcel has a fixed date of reception in the source and delivery schedule in a destination. In the age of highly developed economy, time pressure and costs, outsourcing is a condition necessary to improve the functioning of enterprises. New logistic chains, networks of terminals and intermodal connections are built every year to reduce the transport costs and improve the whole process. In this article, the authors presented the benefits resulting from consolidation of cargos in the road transport. Special emphasis was put on determination of the role of the transport costs reduction using the cargo consolidation services.
