Freestanding, Highly Flexible, Large Area, Nanoporous Alumina Membranes with Complete Through‐Hole Pore Morphology

Abstract: Electrochemical anodic oxidation of aluminium metal sheets leads to the formation of compact and dense, but highly porous alumina surfaces on top of the anode. The alumina surfaces obtained by anodic oxidation can be detached from the bare metal by using a voltage detachment procedure, without employing chemical etching techniques. This procedure leads to large area porous alumina membranes with closed backsides. Prestructuring of the aluminium base metal leads to ordered pore regions at anodisation voltages o… Show more

“…The amount of oxalate anion impurities is reduced due to the predominant dissolution of the electrolyte-rich inner area of the individual PAOX cells. [26] The following reaction takes place between dichromate and oxalate anions in the acid medium: Figure 2. TG traces of: (1) unetched PAOX membranes (oxalic acid); (2) the same PAOX membranes after the barrier layer removal in the etching mixture.…”

“…There are mainly three methods for separating the AAO film from remaining Al substrate. One way is to use an electrochemical detachment method, where a reverse voltage is applied [33,55]. The second is to perform electrochemical etching in 20% HCl with an operating potential of 15 V [56].…”

“…Beide Größen können mithilfe von BET-Messungen oder durch Bildanalyse erhalten werden. Die Porosität e ist über das Verhältnis von Hohlvolumen V V zu Gesamtvolumen V T nach Gleichung (1) [10] von porö-sem Aluminiumoxid 0.1, sie kann jedoch durch Aufweitung der Poren durch nasschemisches ¾tzen [11] weiter erhöht werden.…”
