Free Vibration Analysis of Rotating Plates in High Thermal Environments Using the Finite Element Method

Abstract: The aim of the work is to study the vibration characteristics of rotating functionally graded material (FGM) plates using the finite element method. The mechanical properties of the ordinary and temperature dependent FGM plates are assumed to be varying in the thickness direction according to a power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The temperature field is ascertained using a nonlinear distribution in the thickness direction only. The present method results are compared w… Show more

“…One of the earlier researchers was Bolotin [1] who has contributed greatly in the study of parametric instability of elastic systems such as in isotropic rods, plates and shells subjected to periodic loading. The Bolotin's method of solving the Mathieu-Hill equation by assuming solution to be in a form of Fourier series has been used until today [2][3][4][5].…”
