Zusammenfassung In einer Reihe von vier Gesamtstoffwechselversuchen mit je zwei Gruppen von anfänglich 65 männlichen Küken wurde im Gewichtsbereich von 0,2 bis 1,8 kg das Wachstum, der Protein‐ und Fettansatz sowie die Energiebilanz unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Energieaufwandes für die Aktivität gemessen. In den 4 Versuchen wurden folgende Fragen untersucht: Fütterungsintensität (ad libitum‐rationiert) Proteingehalt der Ration (19% resp. 31% Rohprotein) Stärke oder Fett als Energieträger Futterform (pelletiertes und mehlförmiges Futter) Die Ergebnisse der Auswertungen können folgendermaßen zusammengefaßt werden: Der Tageszuwachs war in erster Linie von der Fütterungsintensität abhängig. Bei rationierter Futterzuteilung wirkte sich die Erhöhung des Proteingehaltes des Futters positiv auf den Tageszuwachs aus. Eine Verringerung des Tageszuwachses hatte eine Verschlechterung der Futterverwertung zur Folge, obwohl die Energiekonzentration des Ansatzes wegen des niedrigen Fettansatzes abnahm. Bei rationierter Fütterung war aber die Aktivität erhöht, was zu einer zusätzlichen Belastung des Erhaltungsbedarfes führt. Dies hatte eine Verschlechterung der Futterverwertung zur Folge. Der Energieaufwand für Aktivität betrug bei den ad libitum gefütterten Küken rund 100 kJ pro G3/4. Futterrationierung und fein gemahlenes Futter führten zu einem deutlichen Anstieg der Aktivität und damit auch des Erhaltungsbedarfes. Im Mittel aller Versuche wurde ein energetischer Erhaltungsbedarf von 538 bis 547 kJ pro G3/4 ermittelt. Davon betrug der Anteil für die Aktivität ca. 25 %, was einem Erhaltungsbedarf ohne Aktivitätszuschlag von rund 400 kJ pro G3/4 entspricht. Der partielle Wirkungsgrad der umsetzbaren Energie für das Wachstum betrug 0,68 bis 0,71 und jener für die Protein‐ und Fettbildung 0,54 resp. 0,94. Aufgrund der vorliegenden Ergebnisse kann abgeleitet werden, daß Erkenntnisse aus Versuchen nur dann einigermaßen zuverlässig in die Praxis übertragen werden können, wenn die Haltungsbedingungen, die Fütterungsintensität sowie die Futterzusammensetzung und ‐form nicht wesentlich abweichen.
