Fragmentation patterns study of iridoid glycosides in Fructus Gardeniae by HPLC‐Q/TOF‐MS/MS

Abstract: Iridoid glycosides (IGs), the major constituents in Fructus Gardeniae, have demonstrated various pharmacological activities, but there is no systematic chemical profile of IGs in Fructus Gardeniae in the published literature until now. Therefore, it is imperative that a rapid and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-Q/TOF-MS/MS) method is established for comprehensive characterization of IGs in Fructus Gardeniae. Firstly, the fra… Show more

“…In comparison with the conventional HPLC method, ultra‐performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) has the advantages of shorter retention time, higher analytical sensitivity and excellent peak capacity (Liu et al ., ; Yan et al ., ). In addition, a quadrupole time‐of‐flight (Q/TOF) mass analyzer operating in MS E mode allows the selection and isolation of precursor ions with high efficiency, sensitivity and mass accuracy (Fu et al ., ; Zhao et al ., ).…”

“…In the present study, HPLC‐DAD‐ESI‐Q‐TOF MS/MS was used to provide characteristic fragmentation patterns that allowed rapid structural identification of potential HOCl scavengers from GJE. Twenty‐six compounds from GJE (Table ) were characterized by MS data and UV spectra, using comparisons with published data .…”
