Abstract:Background: Bisphosphonates are the most widely prescribed agents for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. Atypical femoral fractures in bisphosphonate-treated patients have raised concerns regarding the long-term safety of this class of medications.
