Fractured Reservoir Characterization Using Streamline-Based Inverse Modeling and Artificial Intelligence Tools

Abstract: A new approach that combines the use of static and dynamic data in fracture modeling has been developed. The approach provides the unique opportunity to constrain the fractured models to an effective permeability derived by automatically matching well performances using a streamline-based inverse approach. The effective permeability derived from well performances reflects the stress changes induced by fluid injection, and takes into account the increase of fracture conductivity along the pres… Show more

“…Moreover, in the case of using GA, forward simulation should be carried out much more, because forward simulation is run for each individual at every generation. Therefore, streamline simulator or neural network simulator have been developed in order to reduce the calculating time 5,6 .…”

“…Review of the SPE literature reveals that most of the technical papers published on fracture characterization are concluded with the numerical simulation of single well pressure transient analysis 1,2,3 or stream tube modeling between two wells 4 . Few papers mention history matching with 3D flow simulation models as a part of fracture characterization 5,6,7 .…”
