Fractional-Order Synergetic Control of the Asynchronous Generator-Based Variable-Speed Multi-Rotor Wind Power Systems

Habib Benbouhenni,
Mohamed I. Mosaad,
Ilhami Colak
et al.

Abstract: This work provides regulation of active and reactive power for asynchronous generator-based multi-rotor wind power (MRWP) systems using a synergetic control based on fractional order control theory. The traditional synergetic control theory achieves an undesirable chattering effect, which can damage the system. For this, it is relevant to combine the traditional synergetic control theory with fractional order control to avoid these drawbacks. Two control schemes are proposed, analyzed, and compared: traditiona… Show more

“…Compared to traditional turbines, MRWTs are difficult to control, expensive, require constant periodic maintenance, and contain a large number of mechanical parts. To control this turbine, the MPPT strategy is used for this purpose, as this strategy was detailed in the work [29]. As is known, the MPPT strategy is used for the purpose of controlling MRWT and obtaining more energy from wind.…”

“…The MPPT-PI strategy used in this work is the same strategy detailed in the work 7 , where the same characteristics of the MRWT were used. Using the MPPT-PI strategy to determine the reference value for Ps makes the current, torque, and Ps related to the nature of the WS.…”

“…This substitution significantly increasing the energy gained from the WE and overcoming the problem of interference between the WTs and the WF. According to the work done in 7 , the energy gained from the WE using MRWT is greater than the energy gained from the WE using traditional WTs. Also, the rotation speed of the MRWT is greater than the rotation speed of the conventional SRWT.…”
