Fractal Characters of Material Texture of Self-assembled BaTiO3/Poly-L-Lactic-Acid Composites

Abstract: The dispersion of self-assembled BaTiO 3 (BT) agglomerates in poly-L-lactic-acid (PLLA) polymer matrix was decided with the multifractal analysis to investigate characters of the aggregated morphology of the secondary particle group. On the multifractal analysis, the results showed that the average secondary particle area is increased with increasing the capacity dimension (D 0 ). The average secondary particle area is related to BT agglomerates. It showed that S 1/2 and D 0 plot increased linearity. Therefore… Show more

“…The measurement error of S of the obtained samples was ±0.1 μm 2 . As described in a previous report, 3 the formation of SN secondary particle groups accompanying the addition of SN may improve the thermal conductivity of SN/SUS316L composites. However, Figure 2 indicates that there is an optimal milling speed.…”

“…To increase the thermal conductivity of SUS316L while maintaining the favorable properties, we attempted the construction of the material texture through a self-assembled process, generated by the agglomeration of nitride with high thermal conductivity, which is promoted owing to electrostatic interactions. Silicon nitride (Si 3 N 4 ; SN) ceramics [3][4][5][6] have been studied as substrate in power electronics. Recently, we reported that the construction of a material texture through a self-assembly process in a composite material, manufactured by combining SUS316L and SN, was effective in improving the thermal conductivity.…”

“…Munakata et al 4) highlighted that the dielectric constant of the BT/PLLA composites and the size of the selfassembled BT secondary particle groups. In a previous report, 8) the morphology of the self-assembled BT secondary particle groups was affected by the kneading speed. Therefore, it was assumed that the BT secondary particle groups under the different processes were different.…”

“…10) In another of our previous reports, we investigated the characteristics of the aggregated morphology of the secondary particle group in BT/PLLA polymers using multifractal analysis. 11) Here we report that the self-assembled BT aggregate morphology had fractal characteristics and that the self-assembled BT aggregate morphology affected the dielectric properties. 11) In fact, recently, multifractal analysis, which is seen as an extension of fractal analysis, has been widely used in the medical field.…”
