FPUS23: An Ultrasound Fetus Phantom Dataset With Deep Neural Network Evaluations for Fetus Orientations, Fetal Planes, and Anatomical Features

Abstract: Ultrasound imaging is one of the most prominent technologies to evaluate the growth, progression, and overall health of a fetus during its gestation. However, the interpretation of the data obtained from such studies is best left to expert physicians and technicians who are trained and well-versed in analyzing such images. To improve the clinical workflow and potentially develop an at-home ultrasound-based fetal monitoring platform, we present a novel fetus phantom ultrasound dataset, FPUS23, which can be used… Show more

“…The anomaly classification model is integrated into a decision support system (DSS) to give clinicians useful insights. The DSS integrates the classification algorithm along with other clinical data, including genetic information, patient history, and factors affecting maternal health [154]. Through this integration, US findings may be thoroughly analysed and interpreted, facilitating accurate anomaly detection and reasoned decision-making.…”

“…Ultrasound also serves as a standard method for tracking the progress of a developing human fetus, offering valuable insights into its growth and general well-being (8). Throughout the different stages of gestation, ultrasound examinations are conducted to verify pregnancy, assess its position, condition, dimensions, growth rate, alignment, and gestational age, detect possible congenital disabilities and complications, and gather various other details crucial for ensuring the fetus's healthy development and delivery (9). Fetal brain abnormalities can often be found with ultrasound.…”
