Four‐port shared rectangular radiator with defected ground for wireless application

Abstract: In this research work, a modified shared rectangular radiator is proposed for 5.7-GHz wireless application using multiple cuts and partially stepped ground. The shared design requires no isolating structure to decouple the ports. The proposed shared geometry produces >13 dB isolation in the 4.4-to 6.4-GHz operating band. The gain varies from 3.0 to 6.2 dBi, and radiation efficiency is >70 % in the band. The mutual coupling among the port is reduced by orthogonal arrangement of ports, and envelope correlation c… Show more

“…Interestingly, with a thrust to miniaturize the profile and improve the isolation, the majority of the 04 port antennas have been designed to operate above 2.0 GHz only. With the decrease in the operating frequency, the coupling between the ports increases and it becomes a challenging task to maintain a decent isolation [18][19]. Similarly, using the common ground and the coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding, the MIMO antennas for the wireless communications are reported in [20].…”

“…[19][20][21] However, these devices suffer from problems such as low data rates and tissue biocompatibility for coil-wound devices for cardiac telemetry dipole and microstrip embedded designs for use on the human body, according to finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) analysis. 22 Two or more ports are used in modern commercial applications, [23][24][25][26] whereas four ports can also be seen in wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. 27 A compact dual-band antenna on a polyamide substrate for on-body applications is proposed, designed, and analyzed herein.…”

“…To design an individual antenna is easy, but data rate will be low. The present/next technology requires high data rate, which depends on the multiple antenna systems called multiple input multiple output (MIMO) [3,4].5G technology will resolve almost all drawbacks of 4G technology in future and will provide data rate up to three times of 4G, and the main advantage of 5G is that mobile device with 4G can be upgraded to accommodate 5G antennas [5]. In wireless communication systems, it is required to separate the desired signal from the interference signal.…”
