Four New Diterpenoid Alkaloids from the Roots of Aconitum carmichaelii

Abstract: Aconitum carmichaelii Debeaux is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine and an important source of clinical drugs, of which the parent and lateral roots are known as 'Chuanwu' and 'Fuzi', respectively. Four new C -diterpenoid alkaloids, carmichasines A - D (1 - 4), were isolated from the roots of Aconitum carmichaelii, together with twelve known compounds (5 - 16). Their structures were elucidated via spectroscopic analyses, including HR-ESI-MS, IR, and NMR. Carmichasine A (1) is the first natural C -diter… Show more

“…Based on these data, we have already isolated and purified some of these compounds from their corresponding raw plant materials, including 8-dehydroxybikhaconine ( 13) and (19R)-acetonyltalatisamine (23) as new compounds from the roots of A. ouvrardianum. 10 Also, we reported nagaconitines A (36), B (34), C (20), and D (18) as new compounds from the roots of A. nagarum var. heterotrichum 11 and 14-anisoylliljestrandisine (32) from the roots of A. tsaii.…”

“…Li et al isolated four new C-19 NDAs, carmichasines A–D 103 – 106 from A. carmichaelii Debeaux ( Figure 15 ) [ 92 ]. Extraction of the roots of A. taronense Fletcher et Lauener, which has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat rheumatism and arthritis, yielded four new C-19 NDAs, taronenines A–D 107 – 110 ( Figure 16 ) [ 93 ]; NDAs 107 , 108 , and 110 exhibited anti-inflammatory activity when tested in mice cells.…”
