Foundation year 2 programmes in shortage specialities: implementation and early experience

Abstract

In August 2005 the London Deanery implemented a pilot foundation year 2 programme in shortage specialties at Queen Mary's Hospital. This article discusses experiences of the foundation year 2 doctors in shortage specialty areas, and highlights the use of competency-based assessment tools in shortage specialty posts.
