Lately, the logistics sector has seen accelerated development, which has led to general economic growth, but, at the same time, it has caused considerable environmental damage due to the excessive consumption and emissions that are currently affecting society at large. Since logistics activities are considered some of the most polluting economic activities, this present article aims to present the advantages of implementing the green logistics concept. To this purpose, the activity of a logistics centre in Romania was analysed, with a focus on the greenhouse gases (GHGs) produced as a consequence of this economic activity, and its carbon footprint was calculated according to the GHG Protocol. Although this global standard is based on an integrated approach to how GHG emissions are calculated, there is limited evidence about its degree of implementation by companies. The results of the analysis revealed that the consumption of energy and fuel by the logistics sector has a significant impact on the environment. This impact is maintained, albeit at a smaller scale, even if the technology is replaced and the equipment used by companies to carry out their activities is increasingly performant.

Waste management has emerged as a critical challenge in Malaysia, driven by rapid urbanization, industrialization and changing consumption patterns. In response to these challenges, logispreneurs, a new breed of entrepreneurs with expertise in logistics and supply chain management, have emerged as key players in transforming waste management practices in the country. This research explores the vital roles and contributions of logispreneurs in the context of waste management in Malaysia, focusing on their efforts to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. Through a simple literature analysis, this study highlights the multifaceted roles that logispreneurs play in shaping the waste management landscape. They pioneer integrated waste collection and transportation systems, leveraging advanced technologies and data analytics to optimize routes and reduce carbon footprints. Moreover, logispreneurs lead the way in establishing reverse logistics networks for recyclable materials, fostering excellent recycling rates and diverting substantial waste from landfills. Logispreneurs specialize in managing hazardous waste materials, and ensuring safe transportation and disposal while complying with environmental regulations. They also contribute to public awareness and education campaigns, raising consciousness about sustainable waste management practices nationwide. This study elucidates the pivotal role logispreneurs play in revolutionizing waste management practices in Malaysia. Their logistics expertise and environmental consciousness amalgam present a promising pathway toward a sustainable future. By optimizing supply chain efficiencies, driving innovation and embracing social and environmental responsibility, logispreneurs are instrumental in building a resilient waste management ecosystem that ensures preservation of Malaysia's natural resources and safeguards the well-being of its citizens for generations to come.

Making decisions about the design and implementation of a logistics network is crucial as it has long-term impacts. However, it is important to consider that demand factors and the number of returned items by customers may change over time. Therefore, it is necessary to design a logistics network that can adapt to various demand fluctuations. The main goal of this study is to calculate the quantity of products that should be sent at different times in a supply chain network to minimize the overall cost of reverse logistics and tardiness time. Accordingly, a multi-objective mathematical model is proposed that aims to optimize the total cost and the amount of delay in sending customer orders in a three-level logistics network, assuming that some parameters are uncertain. Additionally, the minimization of waiting time, considering the level of delay in sending, is applied as the second objective function. To handle the uncertainty in the reverse logistics network, a fuzzy approach is implemented, and the proposed model is solved using GAMS software. Furthermore, to solve the mathematical model in large dimensions, the Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (COA) is applied in MATLAB software, and the results are compared to the global optimal solution. The outcomes show that the proposed algorithm has a desirable performance, as the total values sent to the manufacturer are equal to those obtained from the exact solution, and the objective function value decreases as the number of repetitions increases.
