“…A common mitigation for the different degradation mechanisms is to apply a protective coating on the interconnect where spinel type coatings are one of the most common coatings for mitigation of chromium evaporation as they also exhibit a good conductivity. A typical spinel coating is (MnCo)3O4 and it can be deposited directly using e.g., spray coating (4) or inkjet printing (5). It can however also be realized through deposition of metallic cobalt which can be subjected to an elevated temperature in an oxidizing atmosphere whereafter oxidation to Co3O4 occurs followed by outward diffusion of Mn from the steel during operation.…”
