Objective Skin needs care to protect against environmental pollution. The facial skin can be protected such as cream, peel off mask and lotion facemask. This study aim is to develop the antibacterial peel-off mask gel containing St. John's Wort Oil (Hypericum perforatum oil).Methods This peel-off gel mask consists of ascorbic acid, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, as preservative), polyethylene glycol (peg), glycrine (as plasticizer), polysorbate (tween twenty, as stabilizer), ethanol and distilled water with the addition of St. John's Wort Oil and active carbon. The peel-off physical properties (homogeneity, spreadability, viscosity, film-drying time), chemical properties (pH value, stability and antibacterial activity properties) were examined. Using of an active ingredient in peel off mask, it strengthens the role of peel off mask by opening the clogged pores. Activated carbon was added to this formulation as an active ingredient due to its adsorbent activity. In this present study, activated carbon was obtained from pinecone.Results The specific surface area (SBET) of activated carbon was found to be 536.998 m²/g. The antimicrobial activity of the St. John's Wort Oil was tested against Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) as well as one pathogenic fungus (Candida albicans, ATCC 10231). Disc diffusion method was used to study antimicrobial activity.Conclusion The prepared peel of mask showed a good peeling feature without causing edema or irritation on the skin and that it can increase skin cleansing by removing the dirt in the skin pores.

Penuaan adalah suatu proses menghilangnya kemampuan suatu jaringan secara perlahan untuk memperbaiki dan mempertahankan struktur serta fungsi secara normal atau fisiologis, sehingga diperlukan agen antioksidan alami yang aman digunakan untuk kulit. Minyak Essential Rosemary mengandung zat antioksidan tinggi, namun Minyak Essential Rosemary bersifat hidrofobik sehingga diperlukan pengembangan dengan sistem penghantaran seperti Self-Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS), Minyak Essential Rosemary diformulasikan dalam bentuk gel SNEDDS untuk melindungi dari reaksi oksidasi. Tujuan dilakukan riset ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan pada gel SNEDDS Minyak Essential Rosemary. Riset ini menggunakan eksperimental laboratory, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel random sampling, terbagi menjadi 2 tahap, tahap pertama melakukan optimasi terhadap formula SNEDDS Minyak Essential Rosemary dengan perbandingan konsentrasi kosurfaktan pada F1 menggunakan kosurfaktan sebanyak 5%, F2 6%, F3 7%, dan F4 8%. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji organoleptis, pH, daya sebar, homogenitas dan pengujian % Transmitan . Sedangkan, tahap kedua yaitu membuat formula gel SNEDDS Minyak Essential Rosemary. Pengujian yang dilakukan terhadap gel meliputi uji Organoleptis, pH, daya sebar, homogenitas, viskositas dan pengujian antioksidan. Hasil pengujian antioksidan didapatkan aktivitas antioksidan pada gel minyak essential rosemary dengan nilai IC50 5,468 μg/mL yang masuk kategori antioksidan sangat kuat, artinya gel minyak rosemary essential oil memiliki aktivitas antioksidan kuat pada sediaan nano emulsi

Objective: This research aimed to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of filler agents Avicel PH 102-Ludipress on the evaluation results of granules and tablets and to determine the antioxidant activity of ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.) fruit extract lozenges. Methods: The extract was obtained by the soxhletation method using ethanol 96%. The lozenges were made by direct compression, and the formula was divided into 3 concentration variations of Avicel PH 102 and Ludipress, namely F1 (1:2), F2 (1:1), and F3 (2:1). The best lozenges were tested for their antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. Results: The results of statistical analysis using the One Way Anova test formulation of ciplukan fruit extract lozenges with variations in concentrations of Avicel PH 102 and Ludipress had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, Carr's index, Hausner's ratio, thickness, friability, and disintegration time, but no significant effect (p>0.05) on diameter, weight variation, and hardness. The best ciplukan fruit extract (F1) lozenge formula has a concentration ratio of Avicel PH 102 and Ludipress (1:2) with an IC50 value of 28.46 ppm and is classified as a very strong antioxidant. Conclusion: Ciplukan fruit extract formulated in the form of lozenges with varying concentrations of the filler Avicel PH 102: Ludipress (1:2) has very strong antioxidant activity.
