In the cubic non-linear approximation framework, the analysis of space charge wave formation with a wide frequency spectrum in helical two-velocity electron beams was performed. It was shown that the formation of a space charge wave with wide frequency spectrum in this kind of beams occurs on condition that the wave first harmonic frequency is much less than the two-stream instability critical frequency. We demonstrated that due to the linearity of the growing space charge wave dispersion characteristic, the condition of the three-wave parametric resonant interactions in helical two-stream relativistic electron beam fulfills for a significant number of such wave's harmonics which frequencies are less than the critical frequency. Due to these resonances, the excitation of multiharmonic space charge wave occurs. This wave is amplified due to both the three-wave parametric resonances and the two-stream instability mechanism. As a result, the multiharmonic space charge wave forms, and its spectrum width is defined by the 1 st harmonic frequency and the two-stream instability critical frequency. It is demonstrated that the frequency spectrum width of the multiharmonic space charge wave increases with the increase of the electrons input angle with respect to the longitudinal focusing magnetic field and it exceeds the frequency spectrum width of such waves in straight electron beams. It is also found out that the space charge wave saturation length in a helical electron beam is two and more times less than in straight electron beams. Therefore, the devices using two-stream helical relativistic electron beams would have less longitudinal dimensions. We proposed to use helical two-stream relativistic electron beams in multiharmonic two-stream superheterodyne freeelectron lasers in order to increase the frequency spectrum width and to decrease the device's longitudinal dimensions compared with devices using straight electron beams.

In this paper, a quasi-phase-matched (QPM) technique is introduced for soliton transmission in a quadratic (x (2)) nonlinear crystal to realize stable transmission of dipole solitons in one-dimensional (1D) space under three-wave mixing. We report four types of solitons as dipole solitons with distances between their bimodal peaks that can be laid out in different stripes. We study three cases of these solitons: spaced three stripes apart, one stripe apart, and confined to the same stripe. For the case of three stripes apart, all four types have stable results, but for the case of one stripe apart, stable solutions can only be found at w 1 = w 2, and for the condition of dipole solitons confined to one stripe, stable solutions exist only for Type1 and Type3 at w 1 = w 2. The stability of the soliton solution is solved and verified using the imaginary time propagation (ITP) method and real-time transfer propagation (RTP), and soliton solutions are shown to exist in the multistability case. In addition, the relations of the transportation characteristics of the dipole soliton and the modulation parameters are numerically investigated. Finally, possible approaches for experimental realization of the solitons are outlined.

Influence of two-stream relativistic electron beam parameters on the space-charge wave with broad frequency spectrum formation

We developed a cubic non-linear theory describing the dynamics of the multiharmonic spacecharge wave (SCW), with harmonics frequencies smaller than the two-stream instability critical frequency, with different relativistic electron beam (REB) parameters. The self-consistent differential equation system for multiharmonic SCW harmonic amplitudes was elaborated in a cubic non-linear approximation. This system considers plural three-wave parametric resonant interactions between wave harmonics and the two-stream instability effect. Different REB parameters such as the input angle with respect to focusing magnetic field, the average relativistic factor value, difference of partial relativistic factors, and plasma frequency of partial beams were investigated regarding their influence on the frequency spectrum width and multiharmonic SCW saturation levels. We suggested ways in which the multiharmonic SCW frequency spectrum widths could be increased in order to use them in multiharmonic two-stream superheterodyne free-electron lasers, with the main purpose of forming a powerful multiharmonic electromagnetic wave.
