“…Nanocomposites produced in a heterogeneous mixture (water) have the form of nanocables up to 10 µm in length, with a PbS core diameter of 30 nm and PVAc shell diameter of 80 nm. Note yet another interesting process for the fabrication of nanocomposites: Nikolaeva et al [179] synthesized poly(pxylylene)-PbS nanocomposite films via evaporation and concurrent cocondensation of p-xylylene and PbS. The particle size distribution of PbS was shown to peak at 4 nm, with a full width at half maximum of about 2 nm.…”

“…Composite films were also obtained by co-deposition of metal and di-radicals of paraxylylene. The films were used as gas sensitive elements [20].…”

“…This effect is manifested most profoundly by lead sulfide nanoparticles [11][12][13][14], which is a low dimensional semiconductor with the forbidden band width of E g = 0.29 eV at 0 K and 0.41 eV at 300 K [15]. Lead sulfide is used to prepare photoresistors and IR sensors, as well as lasers and light emitting diodes.…”

“…The thickness of coatings can be varied from several nanometers to microns; therefore, the concentration of an inorganic component can be readily regulated. Earlier wide (WAXS) and small angle (SAXS) X ray scattering were used to study in detail the structure of poly p xylylene-PbS nanocomposites [13,14]. The modification of the polymeric matrix structure at high concentrations of sulfide was revealed: the intensity of reflexes corresponding to the low temperature form of PPX decreased and new peaks typical for high tem perature form of PPX arose; data on the particle size distribution was presented in the same manner.…”
