Formation of oil and gas reservoirs in deep water areas of the South Caspian Depression

Abstract: The aim of this article is the identification and characterization of complex factors acting simultaneously on forming large sized reservoirs in the deep South Caspian Basin, as well as the development of a model based on a combination of synchronous natural processes of the formation of hydrocarbon deposits. The article analyses reasons for high layer pressures in the hydrocarbon fields of the South Caspian Depression (SCD), impacting factors. The tectonic factor and density-barometric model can become the ma… Show more

“…More specifically, we may assume that the rheologically active mass that had formed the oldest layer of the fold have formed the Janub elevation as a result of being displaced by the action of compressive stresses from transversal bending. The likelihood that the structure has been formed by transversal bending is even greater because of its isometric shape (Gahramanov, 2017;Alizadeh et al, 2017;Gadirov et al, 2014).…”

“…Increase in the burial rates in the western SCD was related to the emergence of the general compression regime in the Upper Miocene. Within the part of SCD which had been subject to compressive stresses coming from the south, west and north, its influence on each of its structural element has been significantly changing, depending on thickness of a sedimentary layer, lithological composition, depth at which the basement was embedded and other factors (Gahramanov, 2017). This caused local elevations across the SCD, varying in shapes and sizes.…”

“…For this purpose, it is necessary to obtain intact rock samples from target reservoir formations. The depth of petroleum reservoirs varies greatly, ranging from a few meters below the ground surface to a depth beyond 7000 m [39,40] and sometimes is difficult to retrieve large-scale cores from the required depth. Given the difficulty in extracting sufficient quantities of undisturbed natural cores, it is common practice to improvise using synthetic (artificial) cores [3,[41][42][43][44].…”

Как известно, Хамамдаг Азизбековская тектоническая зона находится в Алятской гряде юго восточного Гобустана и протягивается в море на более чем 50 км от Пирсаатского мыса[1, 3,14,19,20].…”
