Formation and Physiochemical Properties of Silver Nanoparticles with Various Exopolysaccharides of a Medicinal Fungus in Aqueous Solution

Abstract: Natural polysaccharides are the most widely used biopolymers for green synthesis of eco-friendly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). In a previous study, a high molecular weight (MW) fraction of exopolysaccharides (EPS) produced by a medicinal fungus Cs-HK1 has been shown useful for green and facile synthesis of AgNPs in water. This study was to further evaluate the effects of molecular properties of EPS on the formation, stability and properties of AgNPs with different EPS fractions at various pH conditions. Three … Show more

“…Gelatin could be functioned as stabilizing agents in the biosynthesis of AgNPs as positively charged gelatin can be electrostatically adsorbed on negatively charged AgNPs to form gelatin-coated AgNPs. Presence of protein in the reduction solution of O. limnetica acts as a capping agent and provides additional stability to AgNPs as well as gelatin exhibited well-capping activity 55 .
Figure 2 FT-IR spectrum verified by making KBr disc with O. limnetica extract ( A ) and biosynthesized Oscillatoria - gelatin capped silver nanoparticles ( B ).

“…It belongs to a group of terpenoids renown for their anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, and pro-apoptotic effects 41 , 42 . Several studies have revealed that UA also possesses anti-cancer properties 26 , 43 46 , and recent studies demonstrated reduced proliferation and invasive potential of melanoma cell lines exposed to UA 47 49 . Although the effects of UA on cellular metabolism are still not well defined, several studies indicate that it damages mitochondria, as it induces depolarization and leads to ROS accumulation in different cancer cell types, such as breast cancer 50 , hepatocellular carcinoma and melanoma 26 .…”

“…The phytochemicals (PTC) inherent in DGL, as observed by many authors is bloated with flavonoid, alkaloid, Tannin and Saponin, the major bioactive compounds in all edible plants [64,65]. Owing to the intrinsic PTC in DGL, it serves as a good reducing agent for the synthesis of the formulated DGL-AgNPs, a sequel to its affinity towards Ag ions formation [66] when compared to wet Gongronema latifolium as we have previously reported [13].…”
