Recibido (10 de abril de 2018) Aceptado (28 de noviembre de 2018) ResumenEn este artículo se analiza la relación existente entre los recuerdos traumáticos y las posibles estrategias para hacerles frente. Los recuerdos traumáticos son difíciles de integrar en la biografía de las personas afectadas y pueden interferir de forma significativa en su funcionamiento social, académico y profesional. Se distingue psicopatológicamente entre los recuerdos normales y los recuerdos traumáticos. Asimismo se analizan las estrategias de afrontamiento adaptativas, tales como la evitación cognitiva, la exposición terapéutica a los recuerdos traumáticos o la capacidad de perdón. Pero también hay un afrontamiento inadaptativo (nostalgia, sentimientos de odio y de venganza o conductas autodestructivas) que puede dar cuenta de las dificultades de recuperación en algunos pacientes. Por último, se examinan las estrategias de regulación emocional cognitiva y el papel de la resiliencia y del crecimiento postraumático para afrontar los recuerdos traumáticos. Se comentan las implicaciones de este estudio para investigaciones futuras en esta área. AbstractIn this paper the relationship between traumatic memories and coping skills to deal with them is analyzed. Traumatic memories are difficult to be integrated into the survivor's life story and can significantly interfere with social, educational and occupational functioning. From a psychopathological point of view, a distinction between normal and traumatic memories is made. Adaptive coping skills to deal with traumatic memories, such as cognitive avoidance, therapeutic exposure to traumatic memories or forgiveness, are analyzed. But there is also maladaptive coping, such as nostalgia, hate and revenge feelings or self-destructive behaviors, which should be taken into account to explain the difficulties of recovery in some patients. Finally, the cognitive emotion regulation strategies and the role of resiliency and post-traumatic growth in some patients to cope with traumatic memories are examined. Implications of this study for future research in this field are commented upon.

Life satisfaction is indicated by the success of resolving conflict and contributing to the society. Some factors that have an important role in life satisfaction are forgiveness and gratitude. This study aims to determine the effect of forgiveness on life satisfaction mediated by gratitude. This study was conducted on 50 students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The forgiveness variable uses the HFS scale from Thomson, for the gratitude variable using the GQ-6 scale from McCullough, and for the life satisfaction variable using the SWLS scale developed by Diener. The data analysis used was a mediation regression test using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.00 and Hayes software. The results of this study indicate that the effect of forgiveness (X) on life satisfaction (Y) when passing gratitude (M) has a probability value of 0.000, which means that p <0.05, there is an effect of forgiveness on life satisfaction mediated by gratitude. Mediation that occurs is partial mediation. From the R 2 value it can be seen that forgiveness influences life satisfaction with the existence of a gratitude mediation of 41.1%.

The purpose of this study was to obtain preliminary evidence of whether a forgiveness psychoeducation programme increases the level of forgiveness and life satisfaction. The independent variable of this study is the forgiveness psychoeducation, and the dependent variables are forgiveness and life satisfaction. This research was carried out using pretest–post‐test control group design. Data were collected with the Heartland Forgiveness Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale. The sample of the study consists of 22 students aged 16–17, 11 (8 girls and 3 boys) in the experimental group and 11 (7 girls and 4 boys) in the control group. The effect of the experimental procedure applied in the study on the level of forgiveness and life satisfaction was tested with a two‐factor mixed ANOVA for mixed measurements. The main effects of the group and measurement factors and the common effect of the group X measurement were determined with this method. The research results showed that the forgiveness psychoeducation programme increases the level of forgiveness and life satisfaction in high school students, and this increase did not change in the trial test. Furthermore, at the end of the psychoeducation programme, the students shared that they experienced more positive emotions while evaluating their achievements regarding the process, that they could express the people and experiences they had difficulty in forgiving in the group and that the group guided them to forgive this person and their experiences.
