This paper is based upon a dissertation submitted to the State University College of Forestry at Syracuse University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The research was done under the direction of Dr. Savel B. Silverborg, Associate Professor, to whom the author wishes to express his gratitude. Sincere appreciation is also expressed to Dr. Robert A.
