Forensic Process as a Service (FPaaS) for Cloud Computing

Abstract: Cloud computing is the technology that enables individuals and businesses to utilize computing services (e.g. online file storage, social networking sites, webmail)and a shared pool of resources (e.g. data storage space, networks, user applications ) from anywhere over the Internet. Cloud computing has become popular as a cost-effective and convenient computing paradigm. However, cloud computing architecture is at its infancy stage and lacks support for security and forensic investigations. Due to the distribu… Show more

“…A multi-stage investigation model with various processes called Smartphone Forensic Investigation Process Model (SPFIPM) presented in [21]. A cloud forensic process model called Forensic Process as a Service (FPaaS) in [22] employs the cloud-based Business Process Execution Language (BPEL). An integrated digital forensic framework is presented in [23] that tackles the significant challenges in the investigation of cloud forensics.…”

“…Several investigation frameworks were offered for crimes committed in cloud computing environments, such as the model that was proposed in [68]. A cloud forensics model includes key stages in all models of digital forensics processes such as identification stages, collection stages, preservation stages, examination stages, analyses, and presentations stages.…”

“…Nowadays attacks are performed by attackers very frequently on the cloud which decreases trust among users on the cloud. Amna Eleyan et al [5] define the forensic service environment where investigators identify various threads and vulnerabilities and attacks. A secure handover of collected and stored log data to the investigator is performed by cloud service provider [5].…”
