A new approach is presented in this paper to reduce mutual coupling between two closely‐spaced planar monopole antennas. The approach employs either two parallel metallic strips or a single strip with a meander‐shaped slotted pattern symmetrically placed between the two antennas with their edges being separated by 4 mm and 8 mm, respectively. The novel aspect of our approach is that the decoupling structures are not only confined in the space shared by the two planar monopole edges but are rather extended above the partial ground plane on one end and to the edge of the substrate on the other end. The design provided measured −10 dB impedance and − 20 dB decoupling bandwidths extending from 1.65 GHz to 4 GHz, and 1.43 GHz to 3.7 GHz, respectively, and the measured realized gains at 2.45 GHz are 3.81 dBi and 2.14 dBi, respectively. The proposed arrays offer excellent MIMO performance in terms of envelope correlation coefficient and link efficiency in realistic MIMO propagation environments through the decoupled frequency regimes.

This paper proposes a simple yet elegant approach to reduce mutual coupling between two closely spaced planar monopole antennas with an inter‐element spacing of 2 mm operating in the 2.45 GHz ISM band by employing two thin metallic strips attached to the adjacent corners of the antenna elements and extending above the partial ground plane. Experimental results revealed a 19.6% measured bandwidth over which the transmission coefficient, S21 ≤ −20 dB, and the reflection coefficient, S11 ≤ −10 dB, extending from 2.25 GHz to 2.74 GHz with a realized gain of 2.86 dB at 2.45 GHz. The proposed array offers excellent MIMO performance in terms of envelope correlation coefficient and link efficiency in realistic MIMO propagation environments.

Child abuse really has no limit. The most horrific form of abuse happened in summer 2019. The media reported that in Dnipro, Ukraine, several hooligans were pouring with gasoline an eight-year-old boy and then set him on fire. Instead of helping him, the hooligans fled. Fortunately, they were quickly identified and brought to police. The unlucky boy has burns on 35% of his body. Burns are very serious injuries that carry with them certain health consequences. The aim of this paper is to explain to the reader what the official authorities should do when a crime like this occurs. Unfortunately, the victim will have lasting consequences for their own health. Perpetrators should be adequately punished. This means that the competent state attorney’s office should consider bringing charges for the most serious form of attempted murder, although in that case there are elements of some other criminal acts.
