Therefore, it is inappropriate to use hypnotic memory enhancement in forensic settings unless conducted by qualified professionals (ISH, 1979b) and specific safeguards are employed (AMA Council on Scientific Affairs, 1985; Hibler, 1984; Smith, 1983).
