Forecast of the mine workings destruction risks by the radiometric control method

Abstract: The stress-strain state of the rock mass affects the content of methane gas and radon aerosols in the atmosphere of mine workings. Therefore, combined control of methane gas and radon in mine workings allows us to monitor changes in the state of the rock massif and to take measures in proper time to reduce the risks of the roadway destruction. Forecasting of rock massif and mine roadway dangerous state is based on the determined features of methane gas emission together with radon decay products into the mine … Show more

“…Poliakov Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics NASU, in which an analytical description of the stress-strain state of the rock massif near the mine longwall [11][12][13] is given, including taking into account: free gas in the rock formation, water saturation, cracks and geological disturbances [13,14], extreme deformation of rocks [11,15]. A model has been developed for the formation of pore-fractured area in sandstones under the influence of natural and technogenic factors [15,18], which is verified by numerous experiments in mines, as well as for the underground geotechnical systems of geomechanical monitoring [19,20] and radiometric control methods [19]. At the same time, the interconnected problems of the rocks massif destruction during mining and forecasting gas emissions in the mine roadways are extremely difficult and do not have a final solution.…”

“…The use of risk control technologies at mining enterprises is hampered by insufficient development of systems for automatic monitoring and control of mining processes [2]. The imperfection of the methods for analyzing and assessing risks caused by hazardous factors arising in the production environment has a negative impact [3]. Algorithms for determining the stress-strain states of the rock massifs require further development [4][5][6].…”
