Forced Vibration Analysis of Spinning Disks Subjected to Transverse Loads

Abstract: Forced vibration of a rotating disk subjected to a stationary transverse load is studied in this paper. Time and frequency responses are obtained and e®ects of the rotating speed on the natural frequencies are evaluated. Finite element method (FEM) is employed as the solution technique and natural frequencies are obtained for di®erent speeds. Forced vibration is then considered and disk responses are determined using the Galerkin method. The solution is determined in two di®erent coordinate systems. In the¯rst… Show more

“…Many researchers have studied the dynamic behavior of the rotating disks and the acoustic pressure radiated by them because of their wide application in the engineering [1]. e importance of vibrations and acoustic radiation of rotating disks can be found in a different array of practical applications such as circular saws, hard disks, gas turbines, automobile parts, and aerospace structures [2]. In the past decades, some numerical, analytical, and experimental studies have been performed to examine the dynamic analysis of and the acoustic radiation from rotating disks.…”

“…Nonlinear flexural waves and chaotic behavior in Timoshenko beams was studied by Zhang and Liu using the method of Jacobi elliptic function expansion [23]. Younesian and Norouzi [24] analyzed forced vibration analysis of spinning disks subjected to transverse forces. They used Galerkin's approach in order to solve the equation of motion of the rotating disk.…”
