Force Control of Hydraulic Actuators using Additional Hydraulic Compliance

Abstract: This paper presents an approach for improving the performance of hydraulic force control systems by adding hydraulic compliance. Typically, force control systems require a flexible coupling system, such as a spring between the actuator and the load, to achieve a non-oscillatory response. To avoid the use of springs, this study proposes the use of special hoses to add compliance to the system hydraulically. With this approach, a direct connection between the actuator and the load is feasible, simplifying the me… Show more

“…The valve consists of a monolithic block inside of which flow paths have been hollowed out. Also, a differential valve (3) and two throttle check valves (1), (2) have been placed in the block. The valve is adapted for a direct connection to the electrically controlled WE6-type control valve.…”

“…[14,15]. Recently, Ledezma et al [16] presented a novel approach for improving the hydraulic force tracking performance by adding hydraulic compliance with special hoses, and this method was validated via simulation and experiments. In contrast to the above methods using linear control theories, the nonlinear control strategies with rigorous Lyapunov stability have aroused many researchers' attention [17][18][19].…”
