Forbidden Lines in n s2n p k Ground Configurations and n s n p Excited Configurations of Beryllium through Molybdenum Atoms and Ions

Abstract: Observed and predicted wavelengths of magnetic dipole lines arising within ground configurations of the type ns2npk(n=2 and 3, k=1 to 5) are compiled. For n=2 the compilation includes the elements B through Kr, and for k=5 it extends to Mo. For n=3 Al through Mo are included. In addition the 2s2p excited configuration of the Be i isoelectronic sequence for Be through Kr and 3s3p of the Mg sequence for Mg through Mo are included. For each line we give a calculated value for the transition probability obtained m… Show more

“…We also give the weighted oscillator strengths and the lifetimes of the excited states in the same table. We compare our results with the two other calculations (Jönsson et al 2013;Kaufman & Sugar 1986). Since the radiative transition amplitudes known to converge faster with the CSFs when the length gauge expressions are used, we give results only from the length gauge calculations in this table.…”

“…In fact, transition probabilities and oscillator strengths are calculated using both the length and velocity gauge expressions in Jönsson et al (2013) showing excellent agreement. The results reported in Kaufman & Sugar (1986) are combinations of the observed wavelengths with the matrix elements obtained from the mean-field calculations.…”

“…Although relatively old calculations [37,38] show quite poor agreement with the experimental results, a recent Hartree-Fock approach [48], which includes relativistic corrections with semi-empirical adjustment based on several experimental data sets, agrees well with the present Fig. 12 Typical error bars for the LHD [41], tokamak [37], and EBIT [45][46][47] in measured wavelengths of the M1 transitions of (a) Si-like KrXXIII, (b) S-like MoXXIX, and (c) Ti-like XeXXXIII.…”

“…Our purpose is to discuss the models' success in reproducing the equatorial anomaly phenomenon. In contrast to previous studies of the equatorial anomaly, the model of the ionosphere and plasmasphere used in this work includes the fundamental laboratory rate coefficient measurements of O + ( 4 S) ions with vibrationally excited N 2 and O 2 given by Hierl et al (1997), the quenching rate coefficients for O + ( 2 D) and O + ( 2 D) by N 2 measured by Li et al (1997), the updated Einstein coefficients for the O + ( 2 P) → O + ( 4 S) + hν and O + ( 2 P) → O + ( 2 D) + hν transitions given by Kaufman and Sugar (1986), and the updated photoionization and photoabsorption cross sections for the N 2 , O 2 , and O photoionization reactions which form N + 2 , O + 2 , O + ( 4 S), O + ( 2 D), O + ( 2 P), O + ( 4 P), and O + ( 2 P * ) ions (Richards et al, 1994;Schaphorst et al, 1995;Berkowitz, 1997).…”
