“…The oxides and hydroxides of Al and Ti have low solubility in aqueous medium and can be considered as immobile elements (Ayers & Watson, 1993;Wesolowski, 1992). Thus, their ratio (Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ) is similar to their source rocks (Andersson, Worden, Hodgson, & Flint, 2004;Galindo-Ruiz, Madhavaraju, Grijalva-Noriega, Monreal, & Espinoza-Maldonado, 2018;Garcia et al, 1994;Girty, Ridge, Knaack, Johnson, & Al-Riyami, 1996;Madhavaraju et al, , b, 2019Parthasarathy, Madhavaraju, Ramirez-Montoya, & Ramasamy, 2020;Ramos-Vázquez, Armstrong-Altrin, Machain-Castillo, & Gío-Argáez, 2018). Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratio <8 suggests a mafic source rocks, ratios between 8 and 21 indicates an intermediate source rocks and Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratio >21 suggests a felsic source rocks (Hayashi, Fujisawa, Holland, & Ohmoto, 1997 due to the presence of higher proportion of ilmenite than other samples.…”
