The aging of societies and the quality of life of the elderly may be accompanied by food insecurity. The aim of the study was to find the relationships between the perceptions of various causes of food insecurity, i.e., financial, social, health, and spatial, and then between those and the selected sociodemographic characteristics. The survey was conducted in late 2018 and early 2019 among 760 people aged 65 and older in two regions of Poland. Factor analysis with the use of principal component analysis (PCA) was used to identify the main causes of the prevalence of food insecurity. Cluster analysis using Ward’s hierarchical classification and logistic regression analysis were used to assess the relationship between the identified reasons for food insecurity, demographic characteristics, and socioeconomic status (SES). Two groups of causes that favor the experience of food insecurity among the elderly were identified, i.e., economic–social reasons and spatial–health reasons. They relate to such situations of food insecurity as concerns about food shortages, lack of staple foods, limited size or frequency of meals, and skipping meals. The high importance of economic–social (HE-S) reasons was associated with the low importance of spatial–health (LS-H) reasons, and conversely, the high importance of spatial–health (HS-H) causes was associated with the low importance of economic–social (LE-S) causes. HE-S and LS-H reasons were combined with low SES and residence in a city of more than 100,000 inhabitants. HS-H causes, on the other hand, were associated with LE-S causes and living in rural areas or towns of fewer than 100,000 inhabitants, as well as high SES. This specificity should be considered in the development of strategies and interventions aimed at reducing the phenomenon of experiencing food insecurity in the elderly population.

Podstawowe przyczyny braku bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego w gospodarstwach domowych osób starszych związane są z ubóstwem, polityką społeczną i dochodami. Celem pracy była ocena w aspekcie ekonomicznym bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego w gospodarstwach domowych osób starszych z uwzględnieniem wybranych cech socjodemograficznych. W badaniach zastosowano autorski kwestionariusz ankiety. Ponad 25 % badanych wyraziło opinię, że w ich gospodarstwach domowych brakowało żywności lub występowały obawy związane z jej brakiem z powodu ograniczonych środków finansowych. Płeć i wiek nie były czynnikami statystycznie istotnie różnicującymi taką opinię (zgodnie z testem χ2), ale w ramach analizy MCA (Multiple Correspondence Analysis) wykazano związek między tą opinią a wiekiem badanych (75 lat i więcej). Z kolei miejsce zamieszkania, wykształcenie i skład osobowy gospodarstwa domowego respondentów to cechy socjodemograficzne, które statystycznie istotnie różnicowały powyższą opinię badanych (test χ²). Ponadto na podstawie analizy MCA wykazano związek między: zamieszkaniem na wsi, wykształceniem podstawowym oraz zamieszkaniem bez partnera, ale z rodziną a opinią o braku bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego. Zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego w gospodarstwach domowych osób starszych wymaga opracowania strategii pomocy państwowej i społecznej.

Bu çalışmada mevsimlik tarım işçilerinin gıda güvencesizliği durumlarının tespit edilerek, sosyo demografik değişkenlerin gıda güvencesizliği üzerine etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Giresun ilinde mevsimlik tarım işinde çalışan 65 hane ile görüşülerek, gıda güvencesi düzeyleri, ABD hanehalkı gıda güvencesi anket modeli (HFSSM) ile belirlenmiştir. Hanelerin gıda güvence düzeyleri belirlenerek, sosyo demografik özellikleri ve gıda tüketim davranışları sıralı lojistik regresyon orantısal odds modeli ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre çocuklu ve çocuksuz hanelerde gıda güvencesine sahip aileye rastlanılamamış, çocuklu hanelerin %28.5'inde ciddi düzeyde açlığın olduğu gıda güvencesizliği seviyesi görülmüştür.Mevsimlik tarım işçisi hanelerinde, çocuklu ve düşük gelirli hanelerin gıda güvencesizliği riskinin arttığı ve bu durumun kaygı verici boyutta olduğu görülmüştür. Mevsimlik tarım işinde çalışan hanelere yönelik sosyal ve ekonomik yönden desteğe ve özel programlara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
