“…It affects patients of any age, but mainly adults of either sex (4, 5). Extranodal sites that have been reported to include the palate, tonsils, tongue, intra-abdominal soft tissue (mesentery, mesocolon and greater omentum), stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, liver, spleen, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, intracranium, breast, abdominal wall, thyroid gland, lung and the dura mater of the spine (3, 5-7). The clinical symptoms and laboratory findings include low-grade fever, weight loss, mild anemia, and hypergammaglobulinemia.…”

“…Extranodal sites include the palate, tonsils, tongue, intra-abdominal soft tissue, liver and spleen (2). Only a few reports have discussed the pathology and none have discussed the CT findings of this tumor when occurring in the greater omentum (3). …”

“…Although most commonly found in lymph nodes, approximately onethird of the cases may arise primarily in extranodal sites, the most common being the upper aerodigestive tract, intra-abdominal viscera and soft tissues [5,6,11,13,21,23,26].…”

“…FDCS is a rare, low-intermediate malignant potential tumor [1,2] arising from non-lymphoid, nonphagocytic accessory follicular dendritic cells of the lymphoid follicles. FDCS mostly involves lymph nodes and extranodal sites, such as the oral cavity, tonsils, pharynx, and mediastinum as well as intra-abdominal organs [1,2], representing the omentum, as our peculiar case does, an exceptionally rare primary site [6,7]. Moreover, by pathological point of view, the present case shows aggressive histological features such as very atypical large plump ovoid cells along with bizarre pleomorphic nuclei, frequent atypical mitoses, and rare foci of tumor necrosis, which represent other atypical findings quite rarely observed in FDCS.…”

“…Among the latter, the omentum as a primitive site, as recently observed by us, has been exceptionally reported [6,7]. FDCS often represents a diagnostic challenge [8][9][10].…”
