“…These observations render Au nanorods excellent candidates for light‐scattering imaging, photoacoustic imaging, and as photothermal therapeutic agents. We reported the layer‐by‐layer synthesis and characterization of a novel five‐component hybrid composite, Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 ‐Au nanorod@mesoSiO 2 ‐folic acid, which simultaneously processes magnetic and easily controllable optical properties in the near‐infrared region. Such a hybrid composite consisted of an Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 core, at which surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB)‐coated Au nanorods [32a] were self‐assembled; then another thin mesoporous silica (mesoSiO 2 ) layer with amino groups was coated outside to render the system more stable.…”

“…[16] Thus, folic acid (FA), an onimmunogenic receptor-specific ligand, has been gradually used as as pecificm otif for targeting human cancer cells with overexpressed folate receptors. [17,18] For example, Lu et al prepared at argeting drug-delivery system by capping HMSNs with FA,w hich showed ah igh targeting efficacy toward KB cells (overexpressed folate receptors). [19] Chang et al reported that aP EG-and FA-coated tumor-targeted drug-delivery systema lso illustratedh igh cellular uptake efficiencyb yM CF-7 cells.…”

“…Since the first discovery of M41S silica in 1992, mesoporous SiO 2 has become one of the most extensively studied materials due to its application in wide range of fields. [26][27][28] Moreover, various techniques have been developed to control the pore structure, shape, and size of this material. [29][30][31] Many investigations have been devoted to mesoporous SiO 2 as supporting material for stabilizing TiO 2 nanoparticles.…”
