Focusing factor in a stratified medium

Abstract: Assuming that the refractive index in a medium depends exponentially on the height, an expression for the focusing factor in a stratified medium has been obtained by extending earlier work. The special cases of an isotropic source and a vertical dipole antenna have been discussed in detail.
