“…Mesotheliomas with clear cell morphology are uncommon and only a few cases have been reported under a variety of descriptive terms, including clear cell mesothelioma [9,24], glycogen-rich mesothelioma [23], lipid-rich mesothelioma [7], and foamy cell mesothelioma [6]. In the present case, the cytoplasmic clearing was caused by the accumulation of large amounts of glycogen, but this change has also been attributed to other factors, such as the presence of large amounts of lipid [7], or numerous cytoplasmic vesicles [24].…”

“…Although epithelioid mesotheliomas more often present a tubulopapillary or solid pattern, on occasion, they may present other unusual histologic patterns, including adenomatoid, deciduoid, small cell, signet ring, rhabdoid, and pleomorphic. Mesotheliomas presenting a clear cell morphology are rare and only a few individual case reports have been published [6,9,24]. The purpose of this article is to report a case of a clear cell mesothelioma that was unusual in that it originated in the peritoneum and presented as an incarcerated ventral abdominal hernia.…”
