(Wiedemann, 1819) was the most abundant species. The syrphids showed a preference for temperatures between 28 and 32ºC, and were more frequently collected between 10 and 14 hours, with peaks between 10 and 11 hours. The females were more frequent. The predominance of robust and agile syrphids over those with lower proportions, such as Toxomerus and Allograpta Osten Sacken, 1875, may have been a result of interespecific competition. Eristalinus taeniops (Wiedemann, 1818) is newly recorded from Rio Grande do Sul state. The high diversity and abundance of the species collected from flowers of E. horridum are indicators of the importance of this plant on the diet of the syrphids, since it possesses an elevated number of inflorescences that bloom in months of low resource availability in the study area.

-(Reproductive biology of Psychotria suterella (Rubiaceae) and the approach of ecological scales for flowering and fruiting phenology). Foraging behavior of pollinators and seed dispersers is related to resource heterogeneity in the environment, making it important to know the spatio-temporal variation of resources in order to understand the mutualistic relationships established between plants and animals. Psychotria suterella flowered from January to April, months with highest annual rainfall, and exhibited high synchronism among the populations in the landscape studied. The flowering pattern found on the category of individuals corresponds to that one found in populations and landscape categories. Fructification occurred all year long, with greater availability of mature fruits in May and December; and synchronism was lower in this phenophase than in flowering. Only intermorph pollinations produced fruits and seeds, indicating that this plant species relies on pollen vectors for sexual reproduction. Since there is no evidence of pollen limitation, we consider that differences in fructification among populations could be related to abiotic factors. The overlap between flowering pattern of Psychotria suterella and Bombus brasiliensis foraging activicty, the fact that B. brasiliensis is the most important pollinator of this plant species, as well as the importance of P. suterella for this bee diet, suggest that selective pressures could be acting between these species, underlying this mutualistic interaction.Key words -ecological scales, floral traits, mutualism, pollination, reproductive phenology RESUMO -(Biologia reprodutiva de Psychotria suterella (Rubiaceae) e a abordagem de escalas ecológicas para a fenologia de floração e frutificação). O comportamento de forrageio de polinizadores e dispersores de sementes é influenciado pela heterogeneidade de recursos no ambiente, sendo importante conhecer a variação espaço-temporal dos recursos a fim de compreender as relações mutualistas estabelecidas entre plantas e animais. Na paisagem estudada, a floração de Psychotria suterella ocorreu de janeiro a abril, meses de maior pluviosidade no ano, e apresentou alta sincronia entre as populações. O padrão fenológico de floração encontrado na categoria de indivíduo se assemelhou ao registrado para as categorias de população e paisagem. A frutificação ocorreu durante todo o ano, com maior disponibilidade de frutos maduros em maio e dezembro, havendo menor sincronia entre as populações e entre os indivíduos nesta fenofase do que na de floração. Apenas cruzamentos inter-morfos produziram frutos e sementes, indicando que esta espécie vegetal depende de vetores de pólen para reprodução sexuada. Uma vez que não há indícios de limitação polínica nas populações estudadas, consideramos que as diferenças na frutificação entre as populações poderiam estar associadas a fatores abióticos. -(Reproductive biology of Rourea induta Planch. (Connaraceae), a heterostylous species from the cerrado of Central Brazil). Heterostyly is a floral polymorphism usually associated to intramorph-incompatible mating system. We evaluated reproductive aspects of heterostyly in a Rourea induta Planch. population in a cerrado area of Brasília, Central Brazil. Analyses of the floral biology, breeding systems, fruit set and maturation, seed germination, reproductive phenology and floral visitors of were conducted. The flowers are small (about 11 mm diameter), with single morphology, and have five pistils and two sets of five stamens of unequal lengths. The average lengths of stamens and pistils were significantly different between thrum and pin morphs. However, complete reciprocal herkogamy was not found between stamen and pistil lengths of the two floral morphs. Both morphs are intramorph-incompatible. However, thrums are completely self-incompatible while pins are partially self-compatible. In spite of the differences in the floral morphology and breeding system, the two morphs had similar reproductive success in natural condition. The two floral morphs did not differ significantly in terms of fruit setting and maturation or seed germination rate. Rourea induta produced abundant flowers daily over two short events ("pulsed bang" flowering) and most plants in the population flowered synchronously. Many species of insects, mainly small social bees, were observed visiting the flowers. Our results suggest that partial self-incompatibility, intramorph-incompatibility, and differences between morphs in lengths of stamens and pistils reduced autogamy levels in R. induta. Ultimately, the higher fruit setting by intermorph pollination promotes isoplety and indicates that sexual reproduction in R. induta population depends on pollinators services.Key words -breeding systems, distyly, melittophily, reproductive success, savanna RESUMO -(Biologia reprodutiva de Rourea induta Planch. Nós avaliamos aspectos reprodutivos da heterostilia de uma população de Rourea induta Planch. em uma área de cerrado de Brasília, DF. Foram conduzidos estudos sobre sua biologia floral, sistema reprodutivo, produção e maturação de frutos, germinação de sementes, fenologia reprodutiva e visitantes florais. As flores são pequenas (11 mm de diâmetro), com morfologia simples e possuem dois grupos de cinco estames de comprimentos diferentes e cinco pistilos. O comprimento médio de estames e pistilos diferiu significativamente entre o morfo brevistilo e o longistilo. No entanto, não houve hercogamia recíproca completa entre os dois morfos florais.
