Flux Synthesis and Structural and Spectroscopic Characterization of a Cobalt Europium Trisilicate. -Light violet crystals of CoEu2Si3O10 are synthesized from MoO3-based flux mixtures containing Cs2CO3, CoCO3, BaCO3, Eu2O3, SiO2, and MoO3 (Pt crucible, 1080°C, 3 h). The samples are characterized by single crystal XRD, Raman, and luminescence spectroscopy. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /n with Z = 4. The structure features layers containing Si 3 O 10 groups and Co2O10 dimers. The photoluminescence properties of the Eu 3+ ions in CoEu2Si3O10 are discussed. -(WIERZBICKA-WIECZOREK*, M.; LENZ, C.; GIESTER, G.; Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. 2013, 19, 3405-3411, http://dx.
