Flux pinning in ternary (Nd0.33Eu0.33Gd0.33)Ba2Cu3Oy melt-processed superconductors

Abstract: The flux pinning characteristics of ternary melt-processed (Nd0.33Eu0.33Gd0.33)Ba2Cu3Oy (NEG) superconductors are studied in the temperature range 60⩽T⩽90 K. NEG samples exhibit a strongly developed peak effect in the dependence of the critical current densities on the external field, Ha. The scaling of the pinning forces versus the reduced field h=Ha/Hirr (where Hirr denotes the irreversibility field) yields a peak at h0=0.5 which is an indication of pinning provided by a spatial variation of the transition t… Show more

“…2(b). 41 In conclusion, we have performed a comparative study of the J c ðl 0 HÞ and the vortex pinning among pure and Mn doped K x Fe 2Ày Se 2 single crystals. The J c ðl 0 HÞ values can be greatly improved by Mn doping and post-quenching treatment when comparing to pristine pure sample.…”

“…This increased pinning can be explained as due to ␦T c ͑spatial variation of T c ) or ⌬ pinning ͑variation of the order parameter͒. 5 In this letter, we report the resistive transitions in magnetic fields, the voltage-current (V-I) characteristics and magnetization for several NEG samples with varying degrees of second-phase additions. We observe that the vortex viscosity increases remarkably with the addition of the second phase, promoting the vortex entanglement in the liquid phase.…”

“…Recently, we ascribed the improvement of J c to the activity of the dT c -pinning [2], which is active mainly at elevated temperatures, i.e. around 77 K [3]. However, to facilitate bulk applications (e.g.…”
